MNC TV Held Workshop on Television Programs Caring for Wildlife

MNC TV Held Workshop on Television Programs Caring for WildlifeMNC TV, a national television group in Indonesia, held an internal workshop for its employees on wildlife conservation and animal welfare to increase their capacity about the issues last 27 September 2012. It was held in MNC TV's office in Jakarta featuring some keynote speakers like Rosek Nursahid (Chairman of ProFauna Indonesia), Dr. Ligaya (The Indonesian Veterinary Association), and Fahrul (Burung Indonesia/ Indonesian BirdLife). Participants were team members of marketing and production divisions, and a production house partner. It went well and participants were excited to raise questions about animal welfare and wildlife regulations.

During the workshop, ProFauna presented introduction to protected wildlife basic knowledge of animal welfare. ProFauna hoped that participants would be able to produce television programs or shows that do not violate the law of natural resources conservation and the animal welfare principles. Attended by two fellow national televisions: RCTI and Global TV, two officials of the company, Directors of Program and Finance followed the activities until the end as well.

MNC TV stated that the company became more aware of wildlife conservation after ProFauna protested one of their shows named Aladin which featured a protected wildlife, slow loris. ProFauna considered that the case was wildlife exploitation because the primate was protected by law. MNC TV also hoped that they could work together with ProFauna so that there would be no programs or shows exploiting wildlife.
