ProFauna Denounces Television Shows and Advertisements Exploiting Wildlife

ProFauna Indonesia, has recently sent another complaint letter to the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) denouncing some television shows and advertisements exploiting wildlife.

ProFauna West Java Representative, Radius Nursidi, met the Provincial Indonesian Broadcasting (KPID) of West Java to discuss the wildlife conservation issues on media last Wednesday, 13 February 2013.

MNC TV Held Workshop on Television Programs Caring for Wildlife

MNC TV, a national television group in Indonesia, held an internal workshop for its employees on wildlife conservation and animal welfare to increase their capacity about the issues last 27 September 2012. It was held in MNC TV's office in Jakarta featuring some keynote speakers like Rosek Nursahid (Chairman of ProFauna Indonesia), Dr. Ligaya (The Indonesian Veterinary Association), and Fahrul (Burung Indonesia/ Indonesian BirdLife).

MNC TV Promises Not to Use a Protected Wildlife in Their Program

MNC, the parent company of several national televisions such as Global TV, RCTI, and MNC TV, promises not use a protected wildlife in their programs or shows. The official statement was expressed during a meeting with ProFauna Indonesia and other NGOs on 11th September 2012 at the office in Jakarta. Previously on 8th July 2012, ProFauna Indonesia and the other NGOs reported the company for allegedly abuse of a slow loris in the series named Aladin aired in MNC TV.

(07/09/2012) The rampant television shows exploiting wildlife has urged some Non-governmental organizations working for wildlife protection. The NGOs have denounced Global TV, one of a national television station in Indonesia, for airing Petualangan Panji (Adventures of Panji) and Steve Ewon for exploiting wildlife. MNC TV, another national television station is now being criticized by the NGOs for airing a show containing animal abuse.
