Way Kanan’s Mayor Hosts Ride for Orangutan team

Bustami Zainudin, the mayor of Way Kanan, Lampung, warmly welcomed the arrival of RFO teamBustami Zainudin, the mayor of Way Kanan, Lampung, warmly welcomed the arrival of RFO team who is doing campaigns on orangutan conservation across Sumatra. During a dinner in the mayor's house (23/4/2013), Mr. Zainudin affirmed his support for ProFauna Indonesia for the campaign on orangutan and habitat protection. The convivial gentleman said, "Do not let our future generation lose their chance to know orangutans due to their extinction. Even though in Way Kanan there are no wild orangutan left anymore, but I still care to protect the forest in my area."

That evening, the mayor also gave each member of the team a book about the history of Way Kanan, and he also bestowed a typical Way Kanan scarf. In return, ProFauna gave him a t-shirt with "Save Forest and Wildlife" written on it. Putting on the t-shirt right away, the mayor then took the team to visit a local expo held by the government of Way Kanan.

Mr. Mayor did not only invite RFO team to a fine dinner, but also provided accommodation in his private house. The chairman of ProFauna Indonesia, who is also in the team, said "We are very thankful to Mr. Zainudin for all his appreciation and hospitality to the team, because we do not find many noblemen who care about the nature like him."
