Melanie Subono Speaks About Monkeys in Trans7Melanie Subono, a singer who is also a ProFauna activist spoke about monkeys and other wildlife in a national television show called Pelangi (Rainbow) broadcasted by Trans7, a national television station on 20th March 2012. In the morning show, Subono reminded the viewers of the zoonosis of keeping monkeys or primates. Subono said, "You can get rabies, hepatitis, or tuberculosis by keeping monkeys".

Subono who keeps some dogs added that not all animals can be kept as pets. It is illegal to keep the protected wildlife which have been threatened by extinction. Furthermore, Subono scrutinized the masked monkey show which has got rampant in Jakarta. She was very concerned by the owners who trained the masked monkeys cruelly. In order to train the monkeys, owners make the monkeys starving so that they obey the owners.
