Traditional and Multi-Media for Forest Conservation in ProFauna's Education Centre

Traditional and Multi-Media for Forest Conservation in ProFauna's Education CentreProFauna's education centre (www.p-wec.org) has been optimising its main function to educate the public and raise their awareness of wildlife and forest conservation. As the centre is visited by more than 500 people a month, ProFauna tries to display as many education media as possible in every corner of its facilities, from the entrance gate to the toilet walls; visitors can learn the media by themselves.

Coinciding the year of the forest, since in the beginning of 2011, ProFauna has added more educational media of forest conservation. For examples: posters that explain the definition, types, and advantages of the tropical rainforests; information boards containing fun facts of and threats to forests; or booklets of do's and don'ts in forest preservation; and many more have been created by ProFauna. Most media are complemented with colour photographs to describe well the words.

Other than the printed media, ProFauna has also recently launched a video featuring a famous actor and a patron of the organisation, Mathias Muchus. In the six-minute clip which is uploaded in the internet, the leading actor winner of the 1988 Indonesia Film Festival delivers the messages of forest conservation and encourages the public to participate in the effort. Through its simple and easy ways to educate the public to save the forest, ProFauna believes that more people will join the organization to take action in forest conservation.
