Kaskus Agrees with ProFauna to Remove Wildlife Advertisements
The administrator of Kaskus forum finally responded ProFauna's appeal to remove protected wildlife advertisements on the website. This positive response was delivered to ProFauna by Bomie, the community project manager of Kaskus via telephone and email on 18 September 2013. Bomie said that the administrators have deleted advertisements offering protected wildlife species, as reported by ProFauna in early September 2013.
Irma Hermawati, ProFauna's advocate, gladly welcomes the wise step taken by Kaskus. "ProFauna would like to thank Kaskus for their positive response to our appeal. However, we also hope that Kaskus would be more proactive in blocking advertisements related to wildlife without waiting for reports from the public," said Irma.
ProFauna will continue to observe the animal trades in Kaskus and other online forums. If you find online wildlife advertisement, please send the information to ProFauna via email to: datainfo@profauna.net . Your support is very meaningful for the effort of Indonesian wildlife conservation because by stopping illegal wildlife trade we also contribute to the survival of those animals, for most of the traded wildlife were captured from the wild.
