PROFAUNA Educates Elementary School Students on Forest and Wildlife Conservation

PROFAUNA Indonesia visited SDN Tulungrejo 03 in Batu City on Thursday (July 30, 2026) to educate students on forest and wildlife conservation. The education was conducted through games and presentations featuring photographs of the functions and benefits of forests.

Around 120 fifth- and sixth-grade students enthusiastically participated in the educational activities. Photos of Javan langurs (Trachypithecus auratus) were displayed, and students eagerly responded when asked who had encountered one. Many students claimed to have seen one in the Cangar area, which is part of the Raden Soerjo Grand Forest Park (Tahura).

SDN Tulungrejo 03 is a school located close to the Raden Soerjo Grand Forest Park (Tahura). The surrounding area of the school stretches the Tahura forest, which is the habitat of the Javan langur. The forest is also closely linked to community life, as the main water source is located within the forest area.

"PROFAUNA is once again visiting schools near forests to educate students about forest conservation. This is important because they are the nation's next generation, expected to care about preserving forests and wildlife," said PROFAUNA Indonesia's Director of Education, Made Astuti.

Forests are not just about trees; they play a much broader vital role, serving as sources of oxygen and centers of biodiversity. Furthermore, forests provide numerous water sources. This water is used by residents for agriculture and daily clean water needs.

Ernaz Siswanto, Principal of SDN Tulungrejo 03, said, "We are pleased to have the PROFAUNA team visit our school, as the issue of forest conservation is crucial for our students to understand."

SDN Tulungrejo 03 is also ready to collaborate even closer with PROFAUNA in the future in education related to forest and wildlife conservation. This is due to the school's proximity to the forest and the fact that most of the parents earn their living by farming near the forest.

PROFAUNA Indonesia will continue this educational program in other schools surrounding the forest. This program is social in nature, and there are no costs to the schools. This is part of PROFAUNA's commitment to sharing knowledge about forest conservation with the younger generation.
